“The Basedth mountains do not ask anything of you. Neither does the water. That is the point.”

Established in 2021 by KC founding father Mr. Kith Chhoeurn, Morodok Basedth has since grown into something larger than one person — a young, mixed-background team of co-founders who took the risk of planting where there was only empty land, choosing to build something green along the slopes of Phnom Sleuk mountain.

Every visitor's presence flows back to the people who did that planting. This is not agritourism as marketing. It is agritourism as an operating model — soil, team, and visitor all part of the same continuing story.

[01] WHAT_BRINGS_PEOPLE_HERE

Five reasons
to come back.

Each visit to Morodok Basedth gives something different — depending on what you arrive carrying, and what you choose to leave behind.

01

Physical

រាងកាយ

You do not need a gym. You need ground under your feet, open air in your lungs, and somewhere worth walking to. The 10 km circuit through rice paddies and mountain shade is always ready.

  • 10km trail
  • cycling
  • kayak
  • volleyball
02

Mental

ស្ងប់ចិត្ត

There is a particular quiet at dusk on the pond — when the light goes amber and the mountains go dark and the city feels genuinely far away. No programme. No agenda.

  • sunset kayak
  • dawn walk
  • mountain view
03

Networking

ទំនាក់ទំនង

A farmer, an engineer, a teacher, and a banker at the same wooden table. The soil and sky are the great levellers — remove people from their desks and they remember how to talk.

Roots

ប្រពៃណី

The Thnong was planted by hand — by our team, in this ground. The ប្រក់ស្បូវ roof was built the way countryside kitchens have always been built. These are not decorations.

[02] EXPERIENCE_ZONES

Four zones.
One living destination.

The visitor journey is designed around four zones — each speaking to a different dimension of why you came, and a different reason to return.

Zone 01

Sport & Active Discovery

Movement is a gateway to presence. The 10 km adventure trail winds through natural terrain and open rice fields — built for runners and cyclists who want real distance, real elevation, real scenery.

  • 10 km running & cycling circuit
  • 3-hectare kayak & pedal-boat pond
  • Volleyball courts
  • Morning trail walks
  • Motorbike trail (light off-road)
Lake glimpsed through young Thnong trees
Zone 02

Stillness & Open Air

The Cardamom foothills are not trying to impress you. They have been here longer than that. A sunset kayak. A quiet dawn walk through the papaya groves. The landscape itself is the therapy — no programme required.

  • Sunset kayak on the 3-hectare pond
  • Dawn walk through Thnong groves
  • Open rice field trails
  • Mountain-view resting points

Zone 03

The Art of Camping

There is something irreplaceable about a night under the stars, away from every screen. Families and groups of friends find, around a fire, the conversations that the week did not allow.

  • Designated camping zones
  • Campfire circles & BBQ sets
  • Overnight star-gazing
  • 24/7 armed security on-site
  • Clean, maintained facilities
A family sharing a meal at the picnic table with mountains in the distance
Zone 04

Purposeful Bootcamps

We are the classroom without walls. Remove people from their desks and they remember how to think. Remove the hierarchy of a boardroom and they remember how to talk to each other.

  • Corporate team retreats
  • NGO & bank group programmes
  • Student leadership camps
  • Boat racing on the 3-hectare pond
  • Group trail challenges

What grows here
is served here.

When you dine at Morodok Basedth, you are not simply eating a meal. You are tasting the biography of this soil — the accumulated seasons, the hands that planted, the rain that fell.

Walk the papaya grove — one full hectare of fruit grown by our team in this ground. The ធ្នង់ (Thnong) planted by our co-founders now gives afternoon shade to the cafe and the pond path. Beside them, the លម្មើរ (Date Palm) rows line the landscape along Phnom Sleuk.

  • Countryside Chicken Sour Soup
    ម្ជូរមាន់ស្រែ

Raised by the farmers of Basedth — fed on open ground, not a cage. Slow-cooked with tamarind and the sour notes that define Kampong Speu countryside cooking.

    farm chicken
  • Charcoal-Grilled Farm Chicken
    មាន់អាំងធ្យូង

Whole or half, over charcoal, with fermented fish dipping sauce and fresh herbs from the farm. Best eaten with your hands as the sun goes down.

  • Prahok with Kresang
    ប្រហុកឆៅចិញ្ចំក្រសាំង

[04] THE_CAFE

Roofed in ប្រក់ស្បូវ.
Framed in wood.
Shaded by Thnong.

The cafe at Morodok Basedth is not a venue that was designed and then built. It grew the way the countryside kitchen grows — from the materials at hand, the shade that was needed, the wood that was available.

“Sit under the ប្រក់ស្បូវ roof, hold something warm, and let the rice fields say what they always say: there is no hurry here.”

What is served under it was grown within sight of where you are sitting. Fresh papaya smoothies from the grove. Khmer iced coffee in the afternoon. A farm breakfast in the morning, with ingredients that did not travel far.

[05] WHAT_THIS_PLACE_IS_FOR

Built for
people, not profiles.

Whether you come for a morning trail or a week-long camp, Morodok Basedth asks only one thing: that you are actually here, in this ground, under this sky.

01_physical

The moving body

រាងកាយ

Trail running, cycling, kayaking, volleyball, walking — or simply standing in a papaya grove at 7am when the dew is still on the ground. Movement here is quiet and purposeful. Not performative.

02_mental

The quieting mind

ស្ងប់ចិត្ត

A sunset over the pond. Mountain air that asks nothing. The Thnong in afternoon shade. Space to breathe fully — which is rarer than it sounds.

03_networking

Where different worlds meet

ទំនាក់ទំនង

BNI chapters, NGOs, startups, farms, schools — all arriving at the same wooden table, under the same open sky. Conversations that cannot happen in a meeting room happen naturally here.

What the land remembers

ប្រពៃណី

Thnong planted by hand. Prahok prepared the way it was always prepared. Snakehead fish from local water. The ប្រក់ស្បូវ roof is not an aesthetic choice — it is the actual place, made the actual way.
